Going Short Trek in Nepal? Nagarkot Hiking One Option

Few people up to trek around Kathmandu Valley, at the insight it offers into the lives, history, culture and religion of Nepal is  unrivaled. The trek to Bhaktapur is also a memorable one, walking as you will through verdant hills. Bhaktapur is renowned as one of the best preserved historical and cultural sites found anywhere around the globe.

Day 01 - Drive from Kathmandu to panauti
Following the Arniko Highway out of Kathmandu, climb up, out of the valley to the village of  Panauti, set at the confluence of sacred rivers. (35km, 1hr)

Day 02 - Hike from Panauti to Dhulikhel via Namo Buddha
Drive to Panauti amd start your trek to Namobuddha, which is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Valley, Particularly significant to Tibetan Buddhists. It is associated with one of the Jataka Tales, which recounts the previous lives of the Buddha. Colourful prayer Flags and pilgrims surround the white stupa and a carved stone slab recounts the tale. The 5hrs walk through fields, plantations and small villages is extremely pleasant and offers an excellent glimpse of rural life. Trekkers can take their lunch at Namobuddha. After lunch we continue trekking to Dhulikhel and stay overnihgt in the Hotel. Dhulikhel is renowned for its views of the Himalaya-particularly impressive at dawn. (1540m, 5hrs)

Day 03 - Hike from Dhulikhel to Nagarkot
The hike between Dhulikhel and Nagarkot takes about 5 to 6hrs. There will be a lot of climb and descent but it is never going to be too difficult as the trail is perfect for a day hike like this. Dhulikhel is a real Newari town, not just a tourist resort. It’s also a good centre for short day treks- many visitors come here to stretch their legs before setting off on longer treks. Nagarkot offers even closer views. The peaks on view stretch from langtang lirung (7246m) in the east, through dorje lakpa (6966m) to the huge bulk of Gauri Shanker (7145m) and nearby Melungtse (7181m) and as far as Numbur (5945m) in the east.

Day 04 - Hike from Nagarkot to Bhaktapur via Changu Narayan

By walking through the tamang village and seeing the lifestyle of Peoples. The trail rejoin the road and passing stupa and hindu temple, cross the way to Changunarayn Temple. The temple is oldest and listed in World Heritage site of the Valley designted by UNESCO. After visiting the Temple premise. You can go to the bus stop, where the bus run. It’s just 5 km from there to Bhaktapur.

Day 05 - Drive from Bhaktapur to Kathmandu

It is a relatively short (15 km), but heavily congested trip out of Bhaktapur to Kathmandu.

Day 06 - Departure

Fly back to the Home country after complete this itinerary.

In next two days, the lodges are on community basis that has generated the employment opportunities to the local people from tourism.
